Job Family: Production Engineering (PE)
Location: Nairobi based with regular field visits
Job Ref No. PD/PE/PE/2026
Job Summary
Deliver production engineering support to optimize well and facility performance, lead routine well interventions, support artificial lift and flow assurance activities, and provide technical input to production planning and problem resolution. Operate with increasing autonomy to improve uptime and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor production performance, compile and QA production data, identify anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform nodal analyses, well deliverability assessments and decline curve forecasting to support operational and planning decisions.
- Design, select and optimise artificial lift systems (ESP, PCP, gas lift, rod) and support troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Plan and support production tests (PLT/IFT), interpret results and integrate findings into reservoir/production models and reports.
- Support completion design reviews, well intervention scopes and execution plans; act as technical lead during routine interventions and small workovers.
- Diagnose well performance issues (scale, sand, paraffin, corrosion, water production) and define remediation programmes with operations and service providers.
- Collaborate with facilities and operations to resolve surface constraints, optimise choke/flow settings and ensure safe production operations.
- Maintain and update production models, nodal studies and database inputs; produce regular production reports and dashboards.
- Lead root‑cause analyses for production incidents and equipment failures; implement reliability and cost‑saving initiatives.
- Mentor junior production staff and contribute to development of procedures, standards and HSE practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or related discipline).

Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in nodal analysis, well performance modelling and production forecasting.
- Practical experience with artificial lift selection/design and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with production testing (PLT/IFT) and interpretation techniques.
- Competence with industry software and basic scripting advantageous.

Performance Indicators
- Improvement in well and asset production metrics (uptime, throughput, recovery) against targets.
- Reduction in unplanned downtime and intervention frequency attributable to engineering actions.
- Accuracy and timeliness of production forecasts, test interpretations and technical deliverables.
- Number and success rate of delivered production enhancement projects and cost savings.
- Development and mentoring of junior staff; adherence to HSE and technical standards.
Desirable
- Certification or advanced training in artificial lift, multiphase flow or production optimisation.
- Experience with digital production optimisation tools, SCADA data analysis and real‑time monitoring.
- Professional membership (SPE) or relevant
