Job Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the jobholder will provide commercial support within Gulf Energy E&P BV to enable the achievement of the Kenya Commercial team’s business objectives. The role will also be responsible for delivering assigned tasks and objectives, as well as supporting the coordination of commercial and regulatory relationships.

Principal Accountabilities:

Support Gulf energy in the management of commercial, planning and analytical issues.

Support Gulf energy in fulfilling the PSC conditions

Support the Gulf energy in creating, maintaining and protecting shareholder value

Coordinate Gulf energy interface with the Ministry of Energy & Petroleum, including drafting of correspondence, workshop planning, logistics and agenda determination, etc.

Support commercial input /research and analysis to the Project and other Business Unit functions as required.

Provide timely commercial/economic input in support of Gulf energy short/medium-term objectives.

Support business planning and the business review process.

Manage any specific ad hoc commercial activities as requested

Qualification & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in the fields of Engineering, Technical, Commercial, Legal, Finance or Business.

Relevant experience in the Oil & Gas sector.

Transactional experience in the Energy Sector will be viewed favourably

Skills & Competencies:

Good understanding and appreciation of the key commercial and technical activities across the Exploration and Production (E&P) lifecycle.

Understanding of key strategic business issues and knowledge of upstream economic value drivers and analysis.

Familiarity with key upstream commercial contracts.

Ability to assimilate complex and diverse information sources required for management reporting.

Experience in engaging with key stakeholders, Government officials and Senior Partner representatives and Management.

Ability to project-manage multi-component processes.

Good written and presentational skills.

Excellent verbal, written and listening skills, internal and external.

Able to work effectively and contribute as part of a team.

Ability to work on own initiative and responsibility to ensure issues are managed to conclusion
